Abstract

The NuPower Resources Ltd Victoria River joint venture project comprises 6 tenements mostly in the Victoria River region of the northern part of the Northern Territory. A reconnaissance visit was conducted and involved identification of access and investigation of radiometric anomalies within the tenement. This involved geological mapping and ground checking of the anomalies using a hand held scintillometer. Eleven rock samples were collected and the highest assay highest result was 14.8ppm U. Whilst access was relatively easy, outcrop is generally subdued and mantled by modern alluvium. Radiometric anomalies are associated with the low ground along Blackfellow Creek. The examined radiometric anomalies are thought to represent minor surface enrichment of uranium associated with the widespread development of ferruginous and lateritic weathering profiles.
