The area was explored by Adelaide Petroleum in the late 1980s to early 1990s as their Mascot prospect. From the late 1990s, this and other nearby titles (such as the abandoned Big Boulder Mine) were used as a tourist fossicking venture run by Colin Bremner of Dot Mine Tours. This activity waned and the title was transferred to Chris Gillespie in 2005. There has been no work carried on the title since and MCC 2 was allowed to expire in December 2008.en_US
