dc.description.abstractThis report describes exploration work undertaken within the relinquished portions of EL 22784 and 22785. The exploration licences comprising the Muralidbar Project were granted to Cameco Australia Pty Ltd (Cameco) on August 29 2005 for a period of six years. Cameco has relinquished 23 of the 103 blocks from EL 22784 and 22785. The work done in the relinquished areas consisted of the geological investigation and documentation of areas in EL 22785, and a structural study using satellite images. The relinquished blocks lack structures and alteration zones that Cameco considers prospective for economic uranium occurrences. There are no radiometric anomalies found except for known ARAD anomalies located at the base of the Nungbalgarri Volcanics. Work done on the tenements focussed on the north-trending Daniel Fault, which has been interpreted as a strike slip fault with an extensional duplex faulting giving rise to the lozenge shaped Gumarrirnbang Sandstone outcrop at Monica Creek. The relinquished blocks lack favourable structures, geochemistry and alteration; hence the area has not been worked in detail. Mapping point MD064005 was visited and documented in EL 22785 in 2006, but no work was completed in the area since that time. The project area is underlain by granitic basement included in the Palaeoproterozoic Nimbuwah Complex, which is unconformably overlain by cover sequences of sandstone and volcanics assigned to the late Palaeoproterozoic to Mesoproterozoic Kombolgie Subgroup. Both the basement and cover sequence are intruded by mafic sills and dykes assigned to the late Palaeoproterozoic Oenpelli Dolerite. Faults and hydrothermal alteration have been recognized in the region. The primary exploration target is unconformity-related uranium occurrences similar to those located at Ranger, Jabiluka, Koongarra, and Nabarlek.en_US
