Progress reports on AP 1669, 1969 to 1971

Abstract

Aurous Development first reported activity for December 1969, during which time gird-pegging commenced over Navigator 5 anomaly and Navigator 3 was geochemically sampled. In early 1970, 38 more auger geochemical holes were drilled at Navigator 3 and 19 holes were drilled to map geology in the subsurface. Navigator 3 returned elevated spot copper. Precollars were completed at Navigator 1 hole 3 and Navigator 6 hole 2. A diamond drill hole at Navigator 1 reached 358 feet having cored 110 from the base of the precollar. Diamond drill hole No 2 at Navigator 1 was completed to 700 feet. It intersected only thin zones of weakly magnetic rock but deviated away from the target. In mid 1970, Navigator 5 was gridded and magnetically surveyed. Diamond drilling at Navigator 6 hole 2 was completed to 931 feet. No lode was intersected but finely disseminated magnetite was noted. The area around Black Angel and Navigator 4 and 5 anomalies were geologically mapped. In early 1971, auger holes for geochemistry were completed over Navigator 4. Navigator 3 DDH 1, reached a depth of 669 feet having intersected magnetic dolerite and sediments. No significant sulphides were noted. In mid 1971, ground magnetics were acquired over Navigator 7 prospect and a drill target selected. The hole intersected 36 m of ironstone and actinolite-trimolite lode with significant bismuth and copper mineralisation. The area was applied for as EL 214.
