The sketchy early history of exploration and mining at Sleisbeck is reviewed. Old records show that the main uranium mineralisation occurred at Exposure 4 within graphitic shales and schists adjacent to intensely hematised dolerite. These rocks are in faulted contact with the Kombolgie Formation sandstone and intruded by Zamu dolerite. The area is also locally intensely faulted west-west. Faulting is associated with silicification both at surface and in drillhole intercepts. Surface sampling and diamond drilling were undertaken on the Sleisbeck leases. No ore grade mineralisation was intersected in the 1977 drilling. Anomalous uranium was found to be associated with phosphate, apatite or altered dolerite. Other prospects such as Exposure 3 and 5 and Western Hill are discussed. In the latter phosphate, apatite and turquoise were noted. The report is missing all the plates.en_US
