L 24999 was applied for 20/10/05 by Finching Pty Ltd and Mundena Holdings Pty Ltd. It was granted on 01/08/06 for a period of six years and covers 396 Sub blocks (1310 sq kms.). The EL was applied for in conjunction with applications for contiguous EL's 24882 and 24998. Previous explorers and seismic work on these other EL's had indicated major NNW trending fault lines with crustal disturbance o the Moho. The fault planes have a dip back to the East which suggested that anywhere east of the projected surface occurrence of the fault corridor, which is located west of the Stuart Highway and parallel to it, might form favourable loci for kimberlitic pipes derived from depth. This might then explain the intense spattering of kimberlitic indicator minerals located in a NNW direction parallel to the stuctural corridor, but east of the Cretaceous cover which covers the structural corridor. It is postulated that if the Cambrian sediments within EL's 24882 and 24998 had been intruded by Devonian pipes and then subseqently covered by Cretaceous sediments these pipes might well be the source of the NW trending line of indicator minerals to the east of the exposure of shallow masking Cretaceous sediments in EL's 24882 and 24998. A field visit was made to the area to examine future access and to investigate soil types where earlier sampling programmes had been conducted. A complete review of all previous reports was also carried out in the Geological library at the Dept of Mines and Energy.en_US
