Final report McKinlay River

Abstract

Two low order anomalies were identified along the McKinlay River by first pass BLEG drainage sampling. At Anomaly H values ranged from 1.0 to 3.2ppb gold on the first pass-these values were confirmed by follow up sampling. Anomaly I, 2km South of Anomaly H had values ranging from 1.1 to 4.1 ppb gold. This was confirmed in follow up sampling at both anomalies silver maxima correspond with gold maxima. Though the follow up confirmed and expanded the area of anomalism. The anomalies occur in Cainozoic River alluvium associated with no apparent outcrop or structure. The results are believed to be a result of contamination from nearby mines or represent low level back- round gold from underlying Mount Bonney Formation. Rock chip sampling indicated that there occur sporadic auriferous sulphides patches in an otherwise barren quartz vein system.
