Abstract: | Geological and geochemical sampling and drilling indicate that there is a resource of approximately 7 million tonnes of limestone that could be extracted by shallow open cut. The material appears suitable for use as a kiln feed, even though the underlying material appears to be fractured and intersected by clay seams. This makes the Mataranka deposit less attractive than the Elsey deposits where limestone is massive. Further investigation as to how this material reacts during firing is required. |
