Abstract: | Limestone of probable Tertiary age suitable for use in cement and lime manufacture outcrops along the southern side of Elsey Creek. A total of 15 drill holes have now been sunk with the depths ranging from 1 to 8 metres. The magnesia content of the limestone encountered was low but the silica content was unacceptably high. The limestone is unsuitable for use in the production of lime. The remaining two blocks can be surrendered. |
