Analysis of material from the holes drilled by Saracen in 1987 returned moderate Pb-Zn anomalies from the basal Hay River Formation (max 1950ppm Pb, 7090ppm Zn) where intersected. Interpretation of the results suggests that the Hay River Formation is enriched at shallow depths associated with thrusting-faulting in the Boat Hill Area. This was further confirmed by limited rock chip sampling which showed elevated zinc associated with the chert horizon in the Wonnadinna Dolomite and the phosphatic unit of the Upper Hay Formation. A Sirotem survey was undertaken in the Boat Hill area and in a locality 7km west to test for stratiform Pb-Zn associated with pyrite in the Hay River Formation and test the more prospective units of the Wonnadinna Dolomite. This survey identified several conductors which were subsequently tested by 10 drill holes totalling 2014.8m. The drill holes failed to locate the conductors that sourced those anomalies, though BHD2 did intersect a weak conductor from 210 to 370m which may be the interpreted conductor at 290m. Galena and sphalerite were observed in the Hay River Formation (0.52% Zn 580ppm Pb), BHD4 and in the Red Heart Dolomite in BHD4, 5 and 9. Drilling results suggest that near surface anomalism due to dispersion of primary sulphides.en_US
