Final report and Results of Stratigraphic Drilling EL 752 Tea Tree Area

Abstract

Six rotary cored holes were drilled across the Tea Tree Basin encountering lithologies of freshwater continental clastic affinity. The rock types are not generally favourable as hosts for extensive uranium mineralization being characterized by poor permeability, fine grain size and fair to good sorting. However, some evidence exists for the presence of palaeochannels within the basin regime and should further work be undertaken the location and drilling of these would rank highly on the list of priorities. Lithologies not considered favourable to occurrence of sedimentary uranium. However, the drilling revealed cyclical channel regimes which may contain concentrations of sedimentary uranium. Most promising area for further investigation lies in the southwest corner of the EL.
