Abstract: The Tanami-Granites district was found to consist of slightly metamorphosed Early Proterozoic sediments of the Halls Creek and Tennant Creek type with an abundance of hematite and pyrite shales. Gold has been worked at Tanami and The Granites and a large part of this district is potentially auriferous. Copper carbonates were observed in a small reef 35 miles east-south-east of Gordon Downs and traces of malachite on joint planes, particularly in white quartz reefs were seen throughout the Tanami-Granites area. The potentially mineralised area has been restricted to the Tanami, Granites, Lewis Range, Gardner Range and Mount Winnecke districts. Further examination of the area is recommended
