Abstract: | Initially a 260 -80# helicopter supported stream sediment sampling programme was undertaken, this gave a sample density of 1 per 2 sq Km. Limited rock chip sampling (16 samples) was completed in conjunction. Stream sediment sampling outlined 3 discrete anomalies (F, G and K). Anomlay F was found to be due to laboratory error. Follow up of anomlies G and K included geological mapping and 202 -40# soil samples. This showed that the low order copper anomalies were derived from minor copper mineralisation at the contact of the McDermott Formation and the Sly Creek Sandstone. Stratigraphic drilling confirmed this with 10m at 310 ppm Cu being returned from the base of the Sly Creek Sandstone and 8m at 250ppm Cu from the McDernott Formation. Reanalysis of CEC core confirmed their previous results through low levels of zinc anomalism (3m at 1850ppm Zn) located. Results failed to highlight any areas of anomalism warranting further follow up. |
