Statistical study of Au, Pt, Pd, Ni, S, and U assay data and Equiv U3O8 from gamma logging, December 1987

Abstract

The report expands on certain aspects of data presented in Shaw and Leckie, 1987 (CR1987-0325). Conclusions were as follows:

There is no correlation between gold, and Ni, S, or U.

There is moderate correlation between gold and palladium (correlation coefficient 0.72 for 8360 pairs), and between gold and platinum (0.60 for 8362 pairs).

There is good correlation between platinum and palladium (correlation coefficient 0.87 for 8360 pairs)

there is very good correlation between uranium assays and equivalent uranium determined from down hole gamma ray logs (correlation coefficient 0.98 for 348 pairs)

No significant correlations emerged in any of the subsets of the data.
