Title: 1962 Prospecting in the Roper River area, The Kipper Creek Iron deposit, Roper Bar.
Title Holder / Company: Unkown
Report id: CR1962-0013
Tenure: NotKnown
Year: 1962
Author: Williams, BT
Abstract: The area was evaluated for its iron ore potential and the following prospects are described:- Murphy's Deposit is a ferruginous silicified sandstone and has a low iron and high silica content. Mount Vizard Prospect contains traces of Pb, Z and Cu associated with a silicified fault and has a probable low potential. The Walmudga Prospect also has traces of Pb, Zn and Cu associated with a fault breccia. Kipper Creek Iron Deposit has an almost continious outcrop of 45 miles and occurs within the Limmen Sandstone. It was probed by 12 shallow drill holes with assays showing a low Fe content ie +/- 35% and a high Silica content ie+/- 40%. The report contains an extensive description of the geological units of the area.
