Partial relinquishment report for EL 7911 10 June 1998 to 31 May 2002

Abstract

Over the past four years work on the areas to be relinquished have included regional field and regolith mapping exercises utilizing landsat imagery and ground reconnaissance. Geophysical interpretation of both gravity and aeromagnetic data highlighted prospective areas. Field work within the relinquished region has included some 480 regional surface samples retrieved by helicopter. the gold values were sporadic and generally low. A review of the mineralisation and metamorphic environments in the Tanami-Granitea Block has revealed that mineralisation appears to be either an epithermal/mesothermal style or a metamorphic style. Moreover the larger deposits are associated with a metamorphic style of mineralisation.
