Abstract: | Exploration programs for diamonds and base metals were carried out concurrently within EL 5954 Benda Bluff from late 1999. Gravel sampling within the relinquished portion of EL 5954 recovered small numbers of micro diamonds and chromites of probably crustal origin. Stream sediment sampling defined a Zn and Cu anomaly, which was followed up with traverses of soil sampling. The soil sample assays defined sporadic elevated Zn and Cu coincident with dolerite sills. It was concluded that the area has limited potential for economic diamond or base metal deposits. A follow-up gravel sampling programme was conducted within the retained portion of EL 5954 during September 2000. However, no field-work took place within the relinquished portion of the tenement during the reporting period. |
