Report on activities for EL 6289, for the period 1-12-1991 to 30-11-1992, Roper River Joint Venture

Abstract

Activities during 1992 concentrated upon the northern-most tenement, EL 6289 which contains the Wongalara Pb-Zn prospect. During the year results from the remaining tenements were critically re-assessed and the tenements relinquished. This report details exploration within EL 6289, Wongalara. Limited on ground work undertaken due to delays in obtaining 'The Site Clearance Certificate'. An IP survey was conducted over the zone of maximum geochemical response. In general results were equivocal with a weak chargeability high offset from the maximum soil geochemistry. Both lines of dipole returned negative results. The survey failed to enhance target definition. Nevertheless, drilling is needed to determine the source of the anomalous Pb-Zn geochemistry. The elevated base metal response from anomalies K and M are considered to be due to lateritic enrichment of the ferruginous Jalboi sandstone and no further work should be undertaken.
