Relinquishment Report for the Tanami Project for the period 11 March 1988 to 31 March 1999

Abstract

12/7/99: The report summarises the work completed on 316 relinquished blocks within nine exploration licences. Within EL1060 a total of 36 blocks were relinquished in two areas. Work completed included ground magnetic and gravity surveys, vacuum, RAB drilling and a singular RC hole. 116 rock chip samples were taken. All assay results were low.

Within EL2290 fifty blocks were relinquished in the south of the licence. Work completed included ground magnetic and gravity surveys. Lag and rock chip sampling and vacuum/RAB drilling in areas of cover took place. Results were very low with only three rock chip samples showing slight anomalism, ie 159 ppb Au and 58 ppb Au.

Only two blocks were surrendered in EL2366 and this area was covered by 112 lag samples and 34 RAB holes. A singular high assay in a RAB hole of 47 ppb Au was recorded.

Within EL2369, nine blocks were relinquished over two areas and were evaluated by 760 lag samples, soil samples and vacuum/RAB drilling. At the Vivatar grid some MMI, BCL and soil sampling was completed on a grid line for comparitive purposes. Results were low, although 9m @ 0.14 g/t was obtained at the Vivitar grid.

Within EL2370 a total of thirty-one blocks from eight areas were relinquished. The areas were evaluated by ground magnetic surveys, lag, soil sampling, vacuum and RAB drilling. The Karnak area is covered by the Antrium Plateau Basalts; RAB holes were, however, drilled through this cover sequence and intersected biotitic schists. Some gold anomalism was obtained to 66 ppb (49 and 51). No anomalism was obtained in the other areas.

Seven blocks were relinquished from EL2372 and the area was evaluated by LASG, rock chip sampling and vacuum/RAB drilling. Results were low with some RAB returning 4-14 ppb Au.

Within EL6859 a total of 45 blocks were relinquished from two areas. These were evaluated by ground magnetic surveys, lag and rock chip sampling, vacuum and RAB drilling. The lag sampling obtained anomalism, ie. 13,14,15,25,36,125,155 ppb AU but this was not reflected in the follow up drilling.

Seventy-two blocks were relinquished from EL7121 and consist mainly of paleodrainage with excessive cover to 50m, with most being underlain by granite. Evaluation was by ground magnetics, lag sampling and vacuum/RAB drilling. Results were very low, with a singular value of 16 ppb Au obtained from a RAB hole within an haematitic schist.

A total of 64 blocks were relinquished from five areas within EL7122. The area was extensively explored by ground magnetic surveys; 1382 lag samples; 432 rock chip samples; 3 costeans; 945 vacuum drillholes and 339 RAB holes. Some of the magnetic traverses were completed over dipole anomalism for kimberlitic intrusives with subsequent RAB drilling, however no kimberlite was obtained. Original LAG sampling defined an arsenic/gold anomaly at the Casa prospect with frequent values generated in excess of 1 g/t Au in two zones. Similarly, rock chip sampling obtained numerous values greater than 1 g/t Au, although some samples were scree material. Vacuum and RAB drilling also obtained distinct anomalism in two zones but values were lower than those obtained from the lag sampling. Three costeans were excavated, one on the western anomaly with anomalous values to 30 ppb being obtained. The other two were dug on the eastern anomaly. Costean 2 intersected 8m @ 0.5 g/t Au, 3m @ 0.88 g/t Au. In costean 3, intersections of 2m @ 0.17 g/t Au, 3m @ 0.26 g/t Au and 2m @ 0.28 g/t Au were obtained.
