The area covered by Exploration Licence 5563 falls in a fairly inaccessable part of the Bynoe Harbour, south of Kings Table.en_US
The area was previously held by Top End Mineral Ventures Pty Ltd., who, after apparently limited exploration, applied for a large Mineral Lease (MLN 995) which was promptly transferred to Greenbushes Tin and Barbara Mining. There appears to have been little work carried out on the ML, however, in view of current tin prices, this is hardly surprising. Exploration activity carried out on EL 5563 also, was very limited in the first year, with only $4,000.00 of the $10,000.00 covenant being expended. With the Company heavily involved in transport, extractive mining and engineering activities in Darwin, manpower resources were simply not available to devote adequate time to the area. There were four visits to the area, with samples being collected on each visit on a fairly random basis, plus many hours spent trying to track down what little information has been open filed. Some forty individual samples were collected, of these two have been referred to Amdel for analysis, and ten to David Langley for assay. This report had been delayed pending return of Mr. Langley's results, however, as the report was overdue, it has been lodged without them. Several areas of interest have been identified, comprising potential pegmatite sites on the higher ground, and areas of alluvial potential in the higher reaches of mangroves. The question of environmental issues that may arise should alluvial deposits prove mineable will be dealt with in detail when testing is more advanced.en_US
