Abstract

N. Byrne & Associates Pty Ltd carried out extensive research into past exploration and mining results on the area covered by Exploration Licence 4820 and the Gigantic mine, in the Tennant Creek area. Frobisher Resources Pty Ltd of Perth were used for futher research. While gold was the principal mineral searched for, the licence area is considered prospective for all minerals.

Field work consisted of limited airbourne reconnaissance, the ground location of researched drill holes, the re-establishment of grid lines, sampling in the immediate Gigantic mine site area and a detailed magnetic traverse at 10 metre intervals over GAE's grid line l800E north of the 1000N base line. The detailed research work, although time consuming, located drill targets which could otherwise have been missed. It also resulted in a drilling programme being planned for year two of the licence.
