Annual Report for first year EL 3240 from 19-11-1985 to 18-11-1986

Abstract

EL 3240 covers an area of 1.2 blocks along the Finniss River, adjacent to the Wagait Aboriginal Reserve in the east. Exploration is targeted at tin-tantalum mineralisation within pegmatites in the area. Any tin and tantalite reserves discovered will augment the mining operation conducted by JC and D Walton at Mt Finniss. At least nine dozen costeans totalling 260m were cut durIng 1986. The costeans showing pegmatite intersections were further tested by air track drilling to approximately 9m depth. Several more widely spaced costeans cover most of EL 3240, and require follow up costeaning and drilling. Last years's proposed exploration programme was not fully completed as time and money was concentrated on the nearby Labelle prospect and further evaluation of the Mt Finniss deposit.
