dc.description.abstract | Two steeply dipping Barite veins occur approximately 20 km north west of Kirkimbie Station Homestead and 43 km. west of Kirkimbie Yard Barite Deposits. Access to the area is along station roads from Kirkimbie Station and then along prospecting vehicle tracks. Access is also possible from the Duncan Highway. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The two veins are roughly parallel and are approximately 1.5 km apart. The most eastern vein crosses the headwaters of Lee?s Creek and is referred to as the ?Lee?s creek Lode?. Its average strike is 351T and it has a total length of 4.7 km. The western vein crosses the headwaters of Forrest Creek and is referred to as the ?Forrest Creek Lode ?. Its average strike is 339T and its total length is 6 km. dc.description.abstract | Lode and proceeding northerly. The outcrops consist of almost pure Barite with only occasional capping of Quartz. The Quartz appears to be a surface feature, as clean Barite appears below where weathering has removed capping. The Lode material varies from white course crystalline Barite to a finer grained pink type. These occur in approximately equal proportions In many cases, the central portion of the Lode consists of course, bladed white Barite which grades to the finer grained pink type towards the outer walls. On testing the Lode material for specific gravity the white course material usually gave a higher reading than the pink material. The average SC for all samples taken along both Lodes was 4.271.
