Title: | Annual report Exploration Licence 8380 Ten Mile Creek 29th March 1996 to 28th March 1997 |
Title Holder / Company: | Ashton Mining |
Report id: | CR1997-0285 |
Tenure: | EL8380 |
Year: | 1997 |
Abstract: | Outstanding gravel results became available. Of the four one was positive. This year 7 additional gravel samples were collected. 3 are yet to be processed, while the remainder were negative for kimberlitic indicators. 1 50t bulk sample was collected. It was positive returning a microdiamond. 13 RAB holes (319m) were completed, testing a distinct vegetation anomaly and 2 magnetic anomalies. The RAB holes failed to penetrate below an incompetent sand unit in the vegetation anomaly. It was eventually penetrated by a single RC hole totalling 46m. Highly fractured but non kimberlitic rock was intersected. Assays are anomalous in rare earths and suggest further work required. The magnetic anomalies are attributed to laterite. The Mariner GEOTEM survey failed to outline any significant conductors. |
