The area under application was formally subject to EL 4226 which was originally granted to Talmina Trading Pty Ltd on the 26 May 1983. The original area covered four graticular blocks and the compulsory relinquishment of the licence at the end of the second and third years of tenure resulted In the reduction to one graticular block, The term of the licence expires on 25 May 1989 and consequently as a result of hardrock exploration and alluvial exploration the area is to be applied for as an Exploration Retention Licence. The area has been subject to several joint venture agreements since being granted. Wansford Investments Ltd arid later Hunter Resources employed the services of Eupene Exploration Enterprises between 1983 and 1985 for geological assessment. Northern Gold undertook on the area during 1985 and in 1986 a joint venture was entered into with Metana Minerals NL to explore for, and to mine, the alluvial deposits present in the Howley area. As the area contains hardrock gold mineralization and alluvial gold mineralization this application is subdivided two parts: i) hardrock exploration carried out by Northern Gold which is given below, and ii) alluvial exploration carried out under the Metana-Northern Gold joint venture which is detailed in a separate report. Proposed Work Program for Hardrock with expenditure - Year 1. a) Geological and structural mapping followed up by close spaced soil sampling to Identify high grade zones and trends within the anomalous areas. $7,000 b) Follow-up RC drilling to identify the trends and nature of the mineralized zones (approximately 30 holes) to 60m depth. $90,000 c) Surveying and re-establishment of the grid throughout the area to accurately position the drilling. $3,000. TOTAL $100,000 Further Work 1. Diamond drilling program to establish controls on and distribution of mineralization to aid In Interpretation during resource evaluation 2. Further AC drilling and possible air core drilling on a 20 by 40 grid for resource evaluation. 3. Mining feasibility studies including a possible test pit for metallurgical studies. 4.
