This report examines the potential of an alluvial/eluvial gold resource within the area defined by MCN's 2624-2630, 2032, 2035, 2036, 2039, 2040, 2043, 2044. The area of the tenements is approximately 237 hectares and is situated south of the Australian railway, west of the old Zapopan mine area. Topographically the region rises to a small ridge in the north east of the area where the majority of the land is flat black soils flood plain underlain by extensive quaternary gravels. Access to the area is only possible during the dry season. From the description of previous work (Shields(1987fl, a high grade zone of greater than 0.5 grams/tonne has been proposed. Together with the close proximity of the zone to the low mineralised ridge, it is presumed that the zone represents an eluvial placer deposit. The lack of high topographic relief in the area suggests extensive reworking of the gravels in high energy alluvial systems is unlikely and as the formation of the deposit is therefore not essentially dependant on the hydrodynamics of the creek system, it is most accurqately described as a proluvial placer deposit. If this is the case, then it is equally unlikely that the high grade zone will extend for any distance from the source.en_US
