Abstract: The area was examined towards the end of the first year of tenure of the Exploration Licence. Some mapping and sampling was carried out in an area where costeaning had been carried out in the past. Some sampling was carried out along lines with each sample being collected over a length of some 25 metres. The mapping picked up quartz veins which were quite short in length and generally overlain (in areas of gentle slope) by up to 1.5 metres of quartz scree. It would seem that the presence of quartz scree over relatively large areas in areas of low relief do not indicate that there are many quartz veins beneath the scree. However, this is by no means proven and further work is necessary to investigate this aspect of weathering in the area. The assay results , both of gold and arsenic, are probably indicative of background values. However, there are gold workings in the northeast of the area and these will be investigated, probably in the next phase of exploration.
