The gold prospects examined are within the old Wandie goldfield, worked between 1881 and 1912, mainly by Chinese miners. The Wandie Mine is about 40km E.N.E. of Pine Creek on the Stuart Highway, which is 220km south-east of Darwin. Details of the tenure, and previous exploration carried out in the area can be found in the reports by T.U. John in the reference list. The objective of this exploration progranme, which took place over a three week period in October, 1986, was to assess the gold grades and volumes of eluvial/alluvial wash in the known prospects and in areas shown to be anomalous in gold in a previous geochemical survey. Depending on the results of trial mining of the alluvials to the east and west of Wandie Mine, it may be worth exploring these extensive flats further out to the south-west along Wandie Creek (it should be noted that the Wandie Creek lead was not included in the reserve estimates due to excessive overburden, however changes in economics may make this attractive). Also, the extensive flats between Wandie and Kim offer some potential. No further eluvials (apart from the Brilliant) appear to exist in the E.L.'s.en_US
