Annual report for EL 2252 and EL 3444 Mt Bundey Area, year ending 01/12/1984

Abstract

In the vicinity of the old Mt. Bundy Station, approximately 90 kilometres south-east of Darwin, Talmina Trading Pty Ltd have control of two adjoining exploration licences, Exploration Licence 2252 and 3444. Exploration Licence 2252 covers an area of some 13 square kilometres and was granted to JW Benger on the 23rd December 1980. Exploration Licence 3444 of only 6 square kilometres and was granted to Talmina Trading Pty Ltd on the 8th January 1982. The licence areas occur to the west of the Mt Bundy Granite and contain metasediments of the Mt Bonnie and overlying Burrell Creek Formations. The older units of the Gerowie Tuff and Koolpin Formation occur just north of the area. A fold axis of a southery plunging anticline runs through Exploration Licence 2252, the nose of a smaller fold occurs in the north of Exploration Licence 3444. The prospective unit is the gold and sulphide banded iron formation (bif) within the Mt Bonnie Formation. Rock types within this unit consist of siliceous siltstone, cherts and gossanous arenites with numerous quartz veins following bedding. Potentially mineralised zones between 2 and 20 metres wide occur as stratiform units over several thousands of metres in strike length. During the 1984 season no work was carried out on the Mt Bundy leases due to Talmina Trading Pty Ltd very heavy work and financial commitments elsewhere. In the 1985 season however the Company plans to carry out a programme involving geological mapping and sampling with follow up percussion drilling if warranted. The estimated expenditure for the 1985 period is $5000.00 per Exploration Licence.
