Annual report, year ending 12/08/1975, EL 514 Cosmopolitan Howley

Abstract

EL 514 was transferred to Dampier Mining Company Limited under an agreement between that company and Charles and Edna May McKay. The transfer was registered at the Mines Branch on the 29th May, 1975. Work carried out during the year includes grid pegging, trenching, channel sampling and mapping. Field Investigations. Gridding - A 50 x 50 metre grid covering an area of 850 x 400 metres was surveyed by Gutteridge, Hoskins and Davey Pty Ltd, Surveyors. Trenching - A total of 2,630 metres of trench was dug to bedrock using a Kato excavator under contract from E Melli Pty Ltd. Sampling - A total of 466 channel samples each 2 x 0.15 x 0.04 metres were taken from the bottom of the trenches and 36 chip samples were taken from the walls of open cuts and stopes. All samples were crushed, split and analysed for gold. Mapping - The grid area was mapped at 1:500 scale and the EL area at 1:16,000 scale.
