| Abstract: | Exploration by Noranda within the area of Exploration Licence 282 was commenced with an airborne radiometric survey of the area in October, 1969. Follow-up ground work carried out in the 1970 field season led to the discovery of the Koongarra uranium deposit in 1970. As a result the area was reflown in March, 1971 when a magnetic as well as a radiometric survey was carried out. More intensive field work was conducted in the 1971 dry season when several promising anomalies were located. During 1972 these have been investigated in more detail and regional studies of the area have been pursued. A proving phase of diamond drilling has been completed at Koongarra. Possible strike extensions of the mineralised zone have been investigated. |
