Report on exploration for the first tenure year EL 6841 Koolendong Valley 19 June 1990 to 18 June 1991

Abstract

EL 6841 was granted to Geopeko (A division of Peko Exploration Ltd.) on 19 June 1990 for a period of six years. The licence was acquired to explore for Daly River style base metal mineralisation and granite related gold. A program of stream sediment and rock undertaken. In all 47 stream sediment and 35 rock chip samples were taken. No mineralisation or areas of distinct anomalism were detected. A survey involving six line km of ground magnetics was undertaken in the northern part of the EL to assess possible similarities with Daly River style anomalies. The responses were found to be broader and weaker than at Daly River. It was decided that results from the first year of exploration did not justify further work. Some potential may exist under black soil cover for shear hosted base metal mineralisation and possibly stockwork gold mineralisation. The expense of exploring in this area for these targets was considered to be impractical.
