EL 3577 Fergusson River Final Report

Abstract

EL 3577 is one of a group of four Exploration Licenses granted to Freeport of Australia, Incorporated, on the 4th June 1982. The License covers an area of 335.4 km2 in the Wombungi area of the Fergusson River 1:250,000 map sheet. The principal mineral being sought is diamond. During the first year of occupancy, the exploration methods employed were photogeology and airborne magnetics/radiometrics. A number of specific targets were selected for ground inspection. During the second year of occupancy these targets were located with the aid of a helicopter-borne magnetometer and checked by on-ground inspection. No diamonds or other minerals of economic interest were found and the License has been relinquished.
