dc.description.abstract1/6/99 Further rehabilitation was conducted on the licence. Continuing discussions with Norsk Hydro re specifications resulted in new specifications being stipulated ie. 44% MgO content and acid insolubles to 3.7%. Analysis and investigations regarding soluble iron within the magnesite occur as substiuted ions within the magnesite crystal lattice. However the iron is readily soluble in hot HCL. A further resource estimate was conducted with the new specifications ie. for 44.1% MgO a total resource of 3,740 000 tonnes is estimated. At a production of 150 000 tonnes per annum a cost of $53/tonne is indicated and is considered too high by Norsk.en_US
