Abstract

This area was applied for on 04/12/1986 and granted on 23/10/1987 over an area of 116 sq.km. for a period of 6 years. The licence area is centred on the Pine Hill gold prospect, shown on the BMR geological map of the Reynolds Range Region, and is located approximately 195 km north-west of Alice Springs. A number of other mineral prospects or occurrences are within the licence area. The old Reward Mine MLS 11 was excluded at the time granting the licence, but by negotiation it became part of the licence during 1988 and was the focal point for much of the exploration effort. Work carried out included reconnaissance, geological assessment, rock chip sampling and assaying, study of old records, purchase of aerial photographs, grid surveys, line cleaning and drilling. Minor gold values were intersected, but overall they appear to be sub-economic to date.
