Abstract

Forty three stream sediment sites were sampled. At each site a 5 kilogram composite was taken for bulk cyanide leach gold determination (BCL). Each composite was taken across the active portion of the stream and sieved to -2mm. Care was taken to avoid trap sites. In addition, a -80 mesh fraction was taken at each location and analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn and As. Sample density varied depending on the drainage pattern but generally an average of 1 sample per 2-3 km2 was achieved. Samples were not taken from the eastern side of the Adelaide River, as flood plain development precludes the efficiency of the technique. In addition, the area of Manton Dam, in the NW of the EL, was not sampled. Rock sampling was limited to areas of extensive quartz veining, and only six composite samples were taken. These were analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn, As and Au.
