Abstract: | A broad anomalous gold zone determined from stream, soil and rock chip sampling appears to be continuous from the southern part of the Gerowie Tuff trending southerly through the intervening one block each EL 4578 and 4773 to the south eastern part of the licence. The anomalous rock chip samples from the southerly dipping anticlinal structure contained shaped quartz reef with a maximum value of 4.8 g/t ground was followed up by systematic soil and rock chip geological mapping. The anomalous stream sample results in the western and southern blocks also justify a detailed follow up. In the 1930's a number of small gold mines were worked within ELs 4578 and 4773 in what is commonly termed the 'Pighole' area. Mr. Ben Hall who holds these licences is currently operating an alluvial plant in this general area recovering gold from comparatively thin layers of eluvial. The 'horseshoe' shaped quarts reef with its nose plunging to the north extends for some 600 metres in a roughly semi circular shape is worthy of a grid to provide accurate sampling and geological mapping. |
