Abstract: | The gossanous and brecciated quartz occur in a variety of lithologies and are thought to be partially structurally controlled. Silcrete development is not thought to be related to quartz veining but due to Tertiary or Mesozoic weathering. The character of the silcrete may be controlled by sulphide mineralisation associated with quartz vein zones. The general low level of response in various metals is thought to be due to extensive leach histories of the gossan and silcrete. With the extensive leaching that has occurred, a substantial zone of supergene enrichment is expected. |
