Final report on surrender of EL 2092 and EL 2093, summary of activities

Abstract

Report summarises exploration carried out in the period 1980-1985. Although indicator minerals were found, they were probably derived from the Antrim Plateau Volcanics (chrome diopside) and from Tertiary river deposits (pyrope garnet). The lack of diamond and microdiamond argues against the presence of diamondiferous source rocks in the licences. Some anomalies were delimited for base mineralisation but follow-up work beyond geological investigation was not recommended. Further exploration is not merited and the licences should be relinquished.
