During year 3 of tenure, investigations concentrated on a belt of good quality limestone outcrops that extends both sides of the Roper Highway over distances of 1-2.5 km east of the Stuart Highway. Five trenches, each about 25 m long, 3 m wide and 6-7 m deep were excavated in order to obtain bulk samples of the limestone. The limestone was found to be partly weathered well into the subsurface at all locations. Several truckload were collected and transported to ELC's lime kiln site. The samples had not been processed at the time of reporting.en_US
