Annual report on EL 7201 'Gundy Springs' and EL 7816 'Lancewood' 26th February 1998 to 25th February 1999

Abstract

Forty three positive loam and 1 gravel samples were obtained, with most samples containing chromites, and 5 with microdiamonds. In the current year most of the follow up work was completed within EL 7201, and consisted of 167 loam samples collected in two areas on a regular grid. The extension of the grid which reported positive results from last year was sampled by 57 loam samples with chromites reported in 35 samples and microdiamonds in 7 samples. Regional loam sampling was completed on a broader sample spacing resulting in 81 samples collected but results are awaited, this was in response after the collection of 4 regional samples of which two contained multiple chromites. Detailed stream sediment samples were collected in the two main drainages, of the 16 samples collected 12 contained microdiamonds. Two EM-34 surveys were completed and 6 priority targets were delineated and drilled by 6 RAB hoels. None of the RAB holes intersected kimberlite - only limestone, transported material from the holes were sampled and 3 contained low priority chromites. In addition a ground magnetic survey was completed.
