Abstract

The report is a photostat compilation of previous joint ventures reports and is poorly presented. A better perspective can be obtained by referring drilling to the annual reports. The effort has been confined to the copper potential in the vicinity of the Gordons Copper Prospect. BHP conducted 6 protem soundings but did not locate conductive bodies. In addition the tenement was covered by a GEOTEM survey which did not indicate the presence of conductive units within the McArthur Group sediments. A core hole was drilled to 335m to test the deeper Cu mineralisation at Gordons, low copper results were obtained and it is suggested that the mineralisation is structurally controlled within the Amelia Dolomite. The tenements were also evaluated for their diamond potential by regional stream sediment sampling and a single chromite was located. Follow up samples were contaminated in the laboratory and are considered unreliable.
