Abstract: The mines of the Wandie goldfield are situated east of the tenement. Gold was mainly produced from alluvial workings and quartz reefs. The alluvial gold deposits in EL 6828 are hosted in the Quaternary lithosols and alluvium, which cover considerable portions of the Burrell Creek Formation. An aerial magnetic and radiometric survey was completed in 1990 over the EL. A number of small exploration targets have been generated for this survey, over which relatively small, low amplitude, coincident airborne magnetic and radiometric anomalies occur. However, these anomalies were not considered prominent enough. Regional ground reconnaissance accompanied by limited soil and rock chip sampling was conducted over the tenement. All of the results received significantly downgraded the prospectivity of the licence area. The soil samples returned values ranging between 0.6-0.8 ppb Au, ang the rock chip samples returned values of <0.01 ppm Au. This work failed to delineate economically significant , near surface, bulk tonnage gold mineralisation within the licence area and hence the tenement was surrendered.
