Annual Report on ELs 4392 4438 1987 to 1988.

Abstract

Commodity of interest is diamonds. In 1987, as reported in 1986-1987 Annual Report for Exploration Licenses 4392, 4438 and 4439, sixteen targets arising from a fixed wing magnetic survey flown in 1986 were the subject of intensive follow-up work. This work took the form of a helicopter airborne magnetic survey of all sixteen anomalies plus SIROTEM over eight selected anomalies. A series of loam, stream and rock samples were collected to augment the geophysical data. Drilling of ten of the sixteen anomalies was completed in the current year. Details of this work plus a summary of earlier work, to include outstanding results from the 1986-1987 Annual Report, are listed below. The following samples were found to contain a single grain of chranite of uncertain origin (i.e. consistent with but by no means exclusive to many chranites from kimberlitic and related rock types).
