Title: | Final Report for Rochow Bore EL 1894 for the period 28/11/1978 to 27/11/1980. |
Title Holder / Company: | AGIP Australia |
Report id: | CR1980-0226 |
Tenure: | EL1894 |
Year: | 1980 |
Abstract: | EL 1894 of 174.08 km2 was granted to AGIP on 28/11/1978 and renewed for 1 year from 28/11/1979. Ground magnetics, gravity survey and drilling over the two years have demonstrated that the only prospective unit is thin and completely weathered and that no thick Mt. Eclipse Sandstone occurs. The potential for uranium mineralization is small. As it was considered that exploration success in the EL depended on locating a thick sequence of Mt Eclipse Sandstone, a gravity survey was carried out. The work was carried out in cooperation with the Northern Territory Geological Survey and two lines crossed the EL. The results do not suggest any significant sub-basins in the area. Drilling was performed by Rockdril Contractors Pty. Ltd. of Brisbane. A total of 170 metres was completed in 2 rotary drill holes. Downhole geophysical logging was contracted to Geoex Pty. Ltd. of Unley. A total of 169 metres in two holes were logged for natural gamma, resistivity and S.P. Three samples of underlying 'schist' from hole RB10R were submitted for analysis of Cu, Pb, Zn, Co, Ag, and As. Results are given in the hard copy of the company report. |
