Reports on EL 97, Gosse River.

Abstract

Exploration Licence 97 covers an area of 342 square miles and is located east of the Gosse River; 34 miles east-southeast of Tennant Creek. Exploration work during the, period consisted of the ground location of aeromagnetic anomalies, gridding, ground magnetometry, interpretation, surveying and drilling. This work was carried out on the following anomalies; GR107, GR1O8, GR109, GR11O, GR111, GR3O1, GR405 and GR406. Shallow drilling was carried out on anomalies GR109 and GR111. Diamond and hammer drilling was completed on anomalies GR107, GR3O1 and GR405. Two trig points were established. Magnetic anomalies GR107, GR108, GR109, GR110, GR111, GR301, GR405 and GR406 were selected for ground examination after qualitative interpretation of data from earlier low level aeromagnetic surveys and interpretation of data from reconnaissance geological traverses. There is very little outcrop in the area and the regional geology is largely unknown. Much of the area is considered to be underlain by granite. Generally; the exploration was aimed at the definition of a magnetic source similar to the magnetite bodies associated with copper-gold mineralization in the Tennant Creek area.
