Abstract

AP 1992 was taken up to explore for tantalite as noted by BMR geologists. Stream, soil and rock chip sampling was undertaken for base metals, silver and gold. Samples from selected drainages were also panned, magnetically separated and examined under a binocular microscope. Several old mica mines were checked with a Geiger counter for any anomalous radioactivity. As the area failed to indicate any economic concentrations of rare earth elements, tantalum, other base or precious metals or uranium, the area was relinquished.
