EL 7802 Warrago north, NT, partial relinquishment report year ending 28-09-1996

Abstract

A detailed aeromagnetic survey was flown by Giants Reef Mining NL in year 1 which showed elevated magnetics of the Warramunga Group rocks adjacent to the Granite in the eastern portion of the licence. The aeromagnetics for the relinquished area is shown in the hardcopy of the company report, map 1. In the second year of tenure a 4WD reconnaissance was made to detect rock outcrop, but none was found. A joint venture partner was sought by Giants Reef Mining. During third year of tenure a joint venture was entered into between Giants Reef Mining NL and MIM Exploration Pty Ltd. An regional examination of the whole Tennant Creek region was made incorporating all the joint venture ground, involving geology and magnetics. Most work undertaken by MIM Exploration Pty Ltd was in the Great Western area, with little other than regional work over EL7802. Ground was identified for relinquishment at the end of the year. The remaining ground is in the northern half of the EL where there is more magnetic anomalism and more Warramunga Group sediments.
