Abstract: ADL in 1976 examined the area subsequently to be covered by the Great Bear Mineral Claims. This work was to consider the base metal potential of the licence and included 2 diamond and 17 large diameter holes. No anomalous base metals values were obtained. Bismuth anomalism was recorded in DDH-548. Work completed by Mentana in 1989 included some 706 soil samples. Most samples were of transported material. 14 samples were regarded as being of residual material. One of those samples returned a significant gold value. Adjacent to this anomaly 14 lines of vacuum holes were completed. No anomalous values were obtained. Further testing including bedrock geochemistry and Marshall 'M' type soil sampling failed to enhance the prospectivity of the area.
