| Abstract: | This EL covers part of chain of alkali paya lakes between Erldunda and Curtain Springs. Interest in the area was aroused following a report of glauberite from a lake adjacent to the Ayres Rock highway near Spring lake. Lake bed and water sampling were undertaken. No sodium sulphate crystals were found. Calcium sulphate is dominant. Analysis of lake brines indicates that the content of potassium salts is comparable to commercial deposits. The brines are enriched in Na, K and B. Further work is recommended. |
